super bowl cupcakes

Hey y'all! MM here!

First off, i would like to apologize for the lack of posting over the last month or so. School has been very stressful (as usual) but today i decided to pick up my laptop again, and start blogging!

As most of you know, today is super bowl sunday! I am not a very big football fan and in my family Super Bowl Sunday is more for the guys than the girls but we can enjoy it too!

I've spent my whole morning making football cupcakes (my way of enjoying a day full of football) and i am very happy with how they turned out so i thought i would share the will all of y'all!
I was looking through Pinterest this morning when I saw a cute picture of about 20 football cupcakes, so i can't say i came up with the idea or the recipe!
The cupcakes are vanilla with chocolate frosting and the stitches are vanilla.
I found the vanilla cake recipe online (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/vanilla-cupcakes-recipe2.html) I KNOW! NOT CREATIVE! But, the cake tastes amazing! They are perfectly moist and the tops are a bit crispy, PERFECTION!! I suggest adding more sugar than the recipe calls for!
I did, however, make the frosting without any help from the world-wide web!

MMs Homemade Chocolate Butter Cream Frosting:
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup of powdered sugar       Thats right! Only THREE ingredients!
1/2-1 cup of butter            Step One: Put the butter in the stand mixer on low-medium for 3 minutes
3 teaspoons of milk           or until whipped.
1 dash of vanilla extract
Step Two: Slowly add in the powdered sugar (so it doesn't fly everywhere) and bring up the speed to medium-low for another 3 minutes
Step 3: add in the vanilla

FOR CHOCOLATE FROSTING:
separate 1/4 of the vanilla and use the other 3/4 for the chocolate
Step 4: melt about 1 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips in the microwave for 1 minute. Put the melted chocolate in the freezer for 45 seconds and then mix into the 3/4 of vanilla frosting

This is possibly the easiest chocolate butter cream frosting there is.

After the cupcakes cooled i frosted each one with chocolate frosting using one of those frosting cake knife things (??)
I then put the vanilla frosting in a piping bag with a thin tip. Each cupcake looked like this:

I have to be honest with you; I wasn't quite sure what a football looked like!

I hope all of you have fun watching the big game while shoving chicken wings down your throat (and maybe some football-looking cupcakes?)

NEW YEAR

Its that time of year again. The time to say "goodbye" to 2014 and "hello" to 2015! the time to start making that "new years resolutions" list! but,i have an idea, lets hold on to this celebration a little bit longer! I have got the inside scoop on all of the trends and decor you'll be needing to celebrate the end of the year and a beginning of a new one!

- clothing trends

we all know that sparkle just comes along with the champagne of a new years party, but how you'll wear that sparkle is the most important part!

a very trendy way of utilizing the glitter is that oh so important, glittery dress. i am loving the fitted rose gold dresses as well as the flowy dark gold and black one! these dresses would be great, paired with (oh yes, more gold) big gold hoops or for a more classy touch, a pearl necklace or braclet.
another thing i am loving are these sparkly rompers (MORE SPARKLES?!) as it is cold outside, being December/January, pair these show stoppers with the trendy glitter tights. the tights are opaque with specks of (YES!) glitter!!!!

- PARTY DECOR

if your throwing a New Years eve party, i suggest checking out pinterest! there are so many DIYs and great tips for throwing a great party!
its not a party without balloons!! I'm obsessed with these gold and white balloons! its not a party without balloons! what makes these so unique are the bows and garland tied to the balloons. so cute!!!
(in love with the decor here! should say 2015!!!)

- MAKEUP AND NAILS

this new years eve I'm betting we will see lots of gold eyeshadow but, what about nails? I've got the perfect solution to tone down all of that shimmer!
lets try baby pink! this cute color will go with the gold dresses and the black rompers! lets escape from all of the sparkle and glitter (for not to long!) and try this new idea!

anddddddd... we are back to the glitter! here are a few makeup ideas that would be perfect for that fun new  years eve party we discussed earlier ;)

happy new year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

XOXO, MM
